When the freeman Arthur A'Bland flees from a false accusation of murder that means imprisonment and death, his children, Alice & Oswald, are seized by Lord FitzUrse. In the great castle they are treated harshly at the hands of the lord and his menials. A'Bland joins the outlaws, and together they decide on a rescue.
