A pragmatic Eric tells Val that he has neglected her and promises to spend more time with her. Later Eric learns that his rival, Irvin has gone AWOL and may pull out of the election. Meanwhile, Louise finds Kayleigh writing a letter to her mum. When Kayleigh asks her to check the letter, Louise is shocked to discover that Kayleigh is writing to tell her mum about Louise and how she is happy with her new ‘mum’. Simon is surprised to see Ivan back in the village. They soon ease back into their old ways and their friendship warms over a pint.
